Eunice attorney Kent DeJean has been named to the Louisiana Advisory Committee, which consults and advises the Dept. of Social Services on licensing of institutions which serve children.

Roland Miller and Lynn Myers have purchased Manuel’s Cleaners from Ernie Revuerem, who is retiring. He purchased it from Gerald Fontenot. Dewey Manuel founded the business in 1931.

Mrs. Lou Myers said members of XiBetaTheta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi are now certain a statue of Eunice Pharr Duson will be a reality because of contributions from a number of citizens.

Perry Pitre Ford is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month.

Voters rejected a nine mill tax to provide operating revenue for Moosa Memorial Hospital. Administrator Craig Ortego said the facility is assessing its options.

Nolton Anderson was elected to fill the unexpired term of Mike Dupre on the City Council. Dupre resigned to join the staff of Public Service Commissioner Tommy Powell.

The City Council is considering how to adjust sewer rates to meet financing of improvements ordered by the EPA. The main question is whether it will be a flat fee or one based on water usage.

Mayor Curtis Joubert announced he will not seek re-election in the 1994 mayor’s race. He has been in office 13 years.
