Hit-and-run victim knew the number to call

The response was the same as it is for any other incident but the circumstances weren’t when Marie Vicaro allegedly drove into the back of a vehicle Thursday, then fled the scene.
The car she hit at Valero was driven by a daughter of Police Chief Randy Fontenot and she followed as Vicaro drove west toward Basile.
A cell phone call to the Police Department put pursuit in motion as squad cars joined the chase, which ended at Basile State Bank in Basile.
Vicaro, 34, of 130 Shady Acres, was charged with DWI with an accident, hit and run, careless operation, no insurance, failure to secure registration and no license plate.
