LSU Alumni Association doubles Its gift to LSU in support of the Flagship Scholarship Program

In its continued commitment to the future of higher education, LSU Alumni Association will double its annual contribution to the university’s Flagship Scholarship Program in 2016.
Chairman of the Board Dr. Gil Rew stated, “The Global LSU Alumni Association Board of Directors is very pleased to announce a substantial increase of our gift to the legendary Flagship Scholarship Program at LSU to $300,000 annually. The doubling of our gift further illustrates the commitment of LSU Alumni Association to assure the very best and brightest future alumni choose LSU.”
In response to the association’s significantly enhanced contribution, LSU Executive Vice President & Provost Richard Koubek expressed the university’s gratitude.
“We are enormously grateful to the LSU Alumni Association for their help in creating even more opportunities for our high achieving undergraduate students through the LSU Alumni Association Flagship Scholars Program,” he said.
Scholarship recipients as well are appreciative of the association’s efforts on their behalf.
Hannah McLain, Baton Rouge native and mass communication major, who received the Tom D. Jones Jr. and Evelyn H. Jones Endowed Flagship Scholarship, said, “The scholarship I received from the LSU Alumni Association made LSU a viable option for me financially but also opened up opportunities to participate in a study aboard program as well as undergraduate research. Because my academic experience has been so richly enhanced, I will support LSU Alumni Association, so I can help provide those opportunities to other future alumni.”
According to Association President and CEO Cliff Vannoy, “The total annual contribution of LSU Alumni association to the university will continue to grow. The collaborative effort of the entire LSU community is stronger than ever, and I’m excited about the future. The LSU Alumni Association is engaging alumni all over the globe with the goal of vastly increasing participation and support of LSU.”
Gifts to LSU Alumni Association support scholarships, professorships, faculty excellence awards and stipends, and an independently funded alumni association that operates at no cost to the university.
