LSUE publishes Louisiana Review

The 13th edition of “The Louisiana Review,” a magazine featuring poetry, short stories, essays, reviews, plays and art has been published by the Division of Liberal Arts on the LSU Eunice campus.
The Louisiana Review is an art and literary journal published yearly. Fiction, poetry, and black & white art by Louisiana authors are featured in the publication, as well as Louisiana and Southern U.S.-themed pieces from contributors around the country and the world.
“We try to highlight Louisiana authors or artists, and we’re proud to have a poem by Sue Own, former LSU poet-in-residence and author of ‘The Devil’s Cookbook’ and ‘My Doomsday Sampler,’ in this issue,” said Dr. Billy Fontenot, editor of the journal and professor of English at LSU Eunice.
Fontenot is the editor, while Dr. Diane Langlois, associate professor of English served as this issue’s art editor and Dr. Jude Meche, assistant professor of English, is the “Review’s” poetry editor.
The new edition contains fiction from Lake Charles novelist Norman German, as well as stories from younger authors like Daniel Webre and Corey Doiron.
“It’s always fun to publish great work by beginning authors, then later see them publish novels or poetry collections on a national scale, which has happened several times with past contributors,” said Fontenot.
For those who like military/spy/action novels, this issue has a chapter from Dr. Randy Esters’s book, “China Spring: The Season of Death.”
Poets in the 13th edition include Joey Brown, Maura Gage Cavell, Stella Nesanovich, Gary Lundy, Howard Winn, Bonny Barry Sanders, Jeffrey Alfier, Patricia Gray, Jaleh Kazemi, Jeannette Barnes, and David Atwood.
“We’ve got artwork from Ray Istre of Crowley, Joshua Chambers of Bossier Parish, Mia Kaplan of LaCombe, Jerry Keeton of Leesville, Rosemary Goodell of Baton Rouge, and New York’s Bob McNeil,” said Fontenot. “Well-known New Orleans folk artist Andrew LaMar Hopkins contributed a beautiful piece called ‘Baltimore Free Woman of Color,’ and other New Orleans artists Leroy Gray and Adam Hall are featured as well.”
The edition has two pieces of pencil art from Keith LaCour, of Libuse.
