Man reports theft, ends up being charged with failure to report chance of address to Sex Offender Registry

Miller

A sex offender who failed to report his new address to the state registry was arrested Tuesday after first contacting police about a theft at his new address.
Police said they went to 1426 Amazon after Peter Miller, 50, reported he had just moved there and that someone had stolen tools from his residence.
The investigating officer then left the scene and verified that Miller was a registered sex offender and allegedly had not reported his new address, as required by state law.
When officers went back to the residence they observed him driving and pulled him over. Officers then discovered that his driver’s license was also suspended.
Miller was arrested for driving under suspension, failure to secure registration, and failure to register his new address as a sex offender. He was transported to Eunice PD and booked. He appeared before 27th Judicial District Judge Donald Hebert on Wednesday and bond was set at $6,000. Miller bonded out shortly afterwards.
Status of the stolen tools investigation is unknown.
