Math teacher Becky Sonnier is Eunice High's Teacher of the Year

Becky Sonnier has been selected Eunice High Teacher of the Year.
She is a member of Eunice High School class of 1987, and is a 22-year veteran of teaching mathematics.
After graduation, Sonnier earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education from McNeese in 1992 and then obtained her Master’s Degree in Math Education from USL in 1997.
Her entire teacher career has been at EHS. An integral part of the College Preparatory program, she currently teaches Advanced Math for Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement Calculus, and is head of the Mathematics department.
Sonnier has served as an adjunct professor for LSU Eunice, teaching College Algebra and Trigonometry for eight years and she serves as a “Teacher Leader” for St. Landry Parish.
Over the years she has sponsored many spirit groups and organizations. Currently, she is a Student Council and Renaissance sponsor. She is also a board member for the Eunice High School Alumni Association and an active member of the Booster Club.
Sonnier is the daughter of Bert and Pat Miller of Eunice. She has been married to Michael Sonnier for 24 years. They have four children; Jake, 18, attends LSU Eunice; A.P., 17, is a senior at Eunice High; Brad, 14, is a freshman at EHS and Kelly Blake, 11, is a fifth-grader at Central Middle School.
