May public prayer at St. Anthony’s
During the month of May a rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet will be prayed daily at 5:30 p.m. at the shrine of the Blessed Mother in front of Saint Anthony’s rectory.
The public is encouraged to participate.
EHS class of 2016- special brick offer
EHS Alumni Association is offering the senior class of 2016 a chance to purchase a brick at the high school’s Centennial Brick plaza, along with a lifetime membership into the Alumni Association for half price during the month of May.
For $50 between May 1 and June 1 any senior, or person buying one for an EHS senior of 2016, will receive a discount.

Community Garden open hour Tuesdays
The Eunice Community Garden has scheduled open hours from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays to allow the community to learn about the opportunity to garden in a community setting.
“Jardin des Amis” is located at 2201 W. Ash St. and is behind the state Department of Motor Vehicles office.

Saturday program at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.

Summer camp at Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Summer Cultural Camp for the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 11 to 15.
The camp is for ages 9 to 12. The registration fee, cash or check is $50.
The center is located at at 250 West Park Ave., Eunice.

Make & Take craft at library set June 3
Make and take craft at the Eunice Public Library on June 3.
Activities are from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
*Bring your own cap and choose from a variety of different stickers and gems to create your own unique design. (Caps will not be provided)
*Decorate a birdhouse made from a water or clean milk gallon jug. (All materials will be provided)
Free recreational fishing set June 11-12
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Free Recreational Fishing Days will be held June 11-12. Both Louisiana residents and non-residents will be allowed to fish without a license on any of the state’s public waters during that weekend.
Anglers are allowed to fish on all public bodies of waters without a license, but all fishing regulations still apply.
VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.
Evangeline Parish adult education classes
The Evangeline Parish adult education classes will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Basile police station.

Create Art at Art House - Saturdays
The Eunice Community Art House is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays for anyone wanting to come in and work with their own materials.
The event is free and open to the public.

Knights of Columbus sells white crosses
The Eunice Knights of Columbus Council 1745 is currently selling white crosses to be placed in yards.
The crosses are available from Bill Parrie at 251 N. 6th St., or at Bertrand’s Printing, or in front of St. Anthony Church after each morning Mass at 7 a.m., 9 a.m., and 11 a.m.
A $5 donation is requested.

Class of 1966 Charles Drew reunion set
The Class of 1966 of Charles Drew in Eunice is looking for classmates and is planning a reunion for the weekend of Memorial Day of 2016.
All classmates are invited to attend and to respond.

DAV requests van volunteers
Anyone interested in volunteering for the DAV (veteran or non-veteran), man or woman, is asked to contact Miguel Pousson at 457-2161 or 396-6392.
A requirement of good driving record is needed, as is a DAV physical.
Drivers are needed daily.
Hospice Volunteers needed
The La. Hospice Palliative Care is in need of volunteers to become a part of their hospice team, which provides comfort and companionship to patients and families.
Training is provided.
