The town of Eunice has long been synonymous with The Purple Peacock, with generations of dancers hitting the night spot from the late 1960s until as recently as last Christmas.
“You could sit at one of the bars and look out over the dance floor,” said new owner Brian Heinen Jr. “I can’t remember the first time I went in there.  I had some fun times there.”
Heinen purchased the property with several business partners, including his father and some of his brothers, for an undisclosed amount last week, and the new owners currently have no plans for the property.
“The property is adjacent to us,” Heinen said. “It’s a good investment. We have no plans for the property, and no plans to open it back up.”
“The building is not in great shape. We have no vision for the future of the building. That may change later if someone comes up with a better idea.”
Heinen added that he would like to see more development on the east side of town.
According to previous owner Darrin Cobb, who owned the property for 25 years, the Purple Peacock building is about 50 years old.
“It’s been for sale off and on for the last year,” he said.
“Lots of people called, were interested, in the property.”
