School Board to get proposed 2015-16 school calendar (pdf)

The first day of public school in St. Landry Parish will be Aug. 13 in a school calendar recommended by the parish School Board’s executive committee. 
The board is to consider the calendar at its meeting scheduled at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Central Office in Opelousas. 
Student holidays on the calendar include:
— Labor Day, Sept. 7.
— Thanksgiving, Classes close at the end of the day Nov. 20 and reopen Nov. 30. 
— Christmas, Classes close at the end of the day Dec. 18 and reopen Jan. 4. 
— Mardi Gras Spring Break, Classes close at the end of the day Feb. 12 and reopen Feb. 18.
— Easter, Classes close at the end of the day March 23 and reopen April 4. 
Graduation is scheduled May 20. 
The last day for students is May 25 and final report cards are to be mailed may 26. 
The opening day for teachers is Aug. 10 and their final day is May 26.
