Services pending for Judge Donald Hebert

Arrangements are pending for 27th District Court Judge Donald Hebert, who died late Wednesday afternoon at age 65.
Hebert was first elected to the bench in a special election in October 1999 and was elected to full six-year terms in 2002 and 2008.
After returning the bench in January of this year following an absence due to health issues he had made it known he would not seek another term.
Over the course of his years on the bench he presided over some of the more notable criminal and civil trials held in St. Landry Parish, including a landmark pharmaceutical case.
Hebert earned his bachelor’s degree at UL Lafayette and his law degree at LSU. He was admitted to the bar in 1978.
The Louisiana Supreme Court will appoint an interim judge to fill Hebert’s seat until a successor is elected in this fall’s elections.
