Sheriff issues appeal to citizens in fight against crime

Responding to the increasing number of people wanting to assist the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office and build a stronger partnership in the fight against crime, Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz announced recently that St. Landry Parish citizens are invited to become Honorary Members of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Honorary Membership Program.
Membership forms will go out in the mail shortly. Individuals choosing to join the voluntary program can do so for as little as $20 dollars, while families can show their support with a $35 dollar contribution. Funds provide crucial technical resources, training, and legislative support on key criminal justice issues.
Guidroz said, “With government funding becoming increasingly difficult to secure, the membership drive has taken on greater importance than ever before. This funding is vital to helping us carry out our mission of making our community a safer place to live, work, and play. The people of St. Landry Parish have always had a close relationship with the Sheriff’s Office and fighting crime is our common goal.”
Individuals who do not receive a membership form by mail and would like more information can call Lt. Clay Higgins at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, 337-948-6516 or contact the Louisiana Sheriff’s Honorary Membership Program online, or at 1175 Nicholson Drive, Suite 101, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. The direct telephone line is 225-383-2871.
