Taylor has early lead in DA count; Meche ahead in judicial count

Three-term District Attorney Earl Taylor led challenger Ellis Daigle with about one-third of St. Landry Parish's vote counted Tuesday night. Taylor had 63 percent of the vote to the former district judge's 37 percent.
The 29 boxes counted are in the Opelousas area of the parish, considered Taylor's stronghold. Daigle resides in Eunice in the western half of the parish.
In the race to fill the seat of the late 27th District Judge Donald Hebert, Jason Meche had 66 percent of the tallt, compared to Frank Olivier, III's 34 percent.
