Unbelted driver dies from Acadia crash injuries

A man died from injuries suffered in a Wednesday night accident in Acadia Parish.
State Police said Joseph Joseph, III, 42, was driving a pickup that crashed about 9:30 p.m. on La. 97 near Berwick Road.
He and Eric Bergeaux, 34, of Basile, were unrestrained and were ejected.
Joseph was driving a 2009 Chevrolet truck south on LA 97. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet exited the roadway to the right, then back left, and off of the road to the left.
The Chevrolet overturned on its roof in a ditch. Joseph was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Bergeaux was flown to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
Impairment is unknown and toxicology results are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
