Voters turn out Chief Dies; Fontenot, Cole in runof; Hoychick, Brown lead city judge field, runoff set
Eunice voters decided in Tuesday's primary that they want a new chief of police.
Randy Fontenot, 38 percent, and Raymond "Bubba" Cole,24 percent, led the count, with incumbent Ronald Dies, in his first term, running third at 19 percent. Also in the race were JoJo Reed, 8.7 percent, and Bart Thibodeaux, 4.3 percent.
Fontenot and Cole are former Eunice officers; Dies is a former state trooper.
The run-off election will be Dec. 6.
Terry Hoychick, 34.3 percent, and Paul Brown, 24.5 percent will be in the city judge runoff. Others in the field were Josie Frank, 22.7 percent, and Jay Caswell, 18.3.
City Marshall Terry Darbonne was re-elected with 80 percent of the vote over Ron Valenta.
