Woman escapes serious injury when struck by pickup near Post Office

A woman who was hit by a pickup truck and thrown across two lanes of traffic was treated and released from Acadian Medical Center Wednesday, Eunice police report.
The woman, Samantha Darbonne, 34, of Branch, complained of severe chest pains after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing U.S. 190 near the Post Office at about 10 a.m., police said.
The driver of the pickup truck, Anward Mayeaux 3rd, 39, of the 2300 block of La. 95, Eunice, was southbound on 3rd Street when he stopped at the red light to make a left turn onto U.S. 190, police said.
The pedestrian was struck as he made that left turn, police said.
Mayeaux was ticketed with failure to yield.
