Woman rescued from fire Monday release from hospital

A victim rescued from a house fire Monday morning was released from Acadian Medical Center on Thursday, Eunice Fire Chief Mike Arnold said.
The fire occurred around 10 a.m., and smoke was seen coming from the home’s roof. Neighbors informed firefighters from the fire department and fire districts from St. Landry and Acadia parish that someone was in the home in the 100 block of South Tanglewood Drive.
The 87-year-old female victim was in the home by herself, and firefighters were able to rescue her safely. She was transported from the scene by ambulance to the hospital.
Arnold said the fire started near bay windows at the front of the home, and the fire was likely an electrical fire.
