Mayor Ken Peart announced that Louisiana State Police now have a toll-free number to which to report suspected terrorist activity.
Some St. Martin Parish plantation owners were trying to drill a well to irrigate their rice crop in 1902 and got really upset when the doggoned well kept producing oil and gas. They drew a crowd after tossing a match into the gas, but still couldn’t draw water for their rice.
Qualifying to fill the unexpired terms of the Eunice mayor and the Ward 4 Board of Alderman’s seat will be held Wednesday through Friday.
The seats were left open after former mayor Claud “Rusty” Moody Jr. died Nov. 3 less than year into his second term.
The Eunice Superette is scheduled to open a new location at 1230 W. Laurel Avenue in Eunice in February. The store will include a drive-through pickup window. The current location on Maple Aveue will remain open. (Photos by Claudette Olivier)
