Former LSU, Fla. State coach
BATON ROUGE – Services for former LSU assistant football coach and athletic director and Florida State head coach Larry Jones will be Monday. He died May 30 at age 79.
He was on the coaching staff of Paul Dietzel’s 1958 national championship team at LSU and coached with Dietzel at Army and South Carolina. After coaching at Florida State, Kansas and Tennessee, he returned to LSU as interim athletic director than chief fundraiser for the LSU Alumni Association, raising more than $35 million over the years.
Survivors include his wife Velma and three children.

3-war vet, lawyer
AMITE – Services for retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and attorney Roy Wood will be Tuesday. He died May 31.
He enlisted in the Army at age 14 and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Army he practiced law in Amite for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wire Lyda and four daughters.
