Teams busy with summer workouts

As the summer reaches the midway point, both Eunice High and St. Edmund are using the time to prepare their teams for the upcoming season.
Eunice High School finished last season at 6-5, but with a history of winning at the school a bounce back year is expected.
Head coach Paul Trosclair is looking for his team to improve in two different ways.
“We should be better offensively, and we should be better in the special teams this year, so if our defense holds up I think we’ll be okay.”
The Bobcats are returning a quarterback with five games under his belt from last season as well as impact players on both sides of the ball.
“On the offensive line, Cole Prudhomme’s going to be a three-year starter, and it looks like he’s got a chance to be a college football player so we’re looking for him to provide leadership on that O-line,” said Coach Trosclair.
Defensively, the team has linebacker Ajyh Johnson, who recorded 106 tackles last season and should help to further stabilize the Bobcat defense.
Across town, St. Ed’s went 8-4 and with 5 years of playoff appearances under his belt, head coach Thomas David expects to continue that success.
Departure of several key senior players makes the offensive line the biggest question for this Blue Jays team heading into the season.
“We’ve got a lot of improvement to do there just because we lost four seniors. I think we’re very capable in that group. Depth is just an issue there. I think we’ve got the bodies to be good. We’ve just got to get out there and get it done.”
The Blue Jays have 10 seniors this year, among whom are the Sittig twins (Aaron and Austin) and the Thibodeaux brothers (Jacob and Tyler).
The Thibodeaux duo will be depended upon to help bring shape to a depleted offensive line.
“The guys we have there are capable, but they’ve got to get out there on the field and prove it now,” Coach David stated.
The two had planned a practice together on Friday but the rainy weather scratched that.
The two teams could meet on July 11.
