Concert this week, some tickets still available

A quarter century ago, Pat Dossman and Dwight Jodon had a dream, and founded the Eunice Community Choir, Concert Band and Children’s Choir.
It’s fitting, then, that Man of LaMancha selections are on this week’s program. After all, “The Impossible Dream” is the iconic song from that production.
It and a number of other selections are on tap for the Thursday and Friday concerts.
Each begins at 7 p.m. at the Liberty Center at 2nd & Park.
Tickets are $5 for adults, and $2 for children under 12, available by calling 457-1776.
Sheherazade, probably as rousing as the Rimsky-Korsakov cover of the same tune, will get toes tapping.
And Puttin’ on My Ragime Shoes will have concert-goers conjuring their favorite Scott Joplin pieces as the music goes on.
Trombones, of course, will be featured on Miss Trombone, a part of the program that would have even Professor Harold Hill up and clapping.
There are a number of other selections on the 90-minute program and it’s guaranteed that Papa will love the combination of Mambo greats.
The Children’s Choir will sing If I Only Had a Brain from the Wizard of Oz, demonstrating they have not only brains but hardy voices.
