The Eunice Food Bank needs your help

Mary Ann Guillory of the Eunice Food Bank needs your help.

The Eunice Food Bank is in need. The shelves are bare...the need is now.
It’s not December-when the annual Food Net Eunice Food Bank Drive is advertised and many give--however, the need of food is now.
“We need just about everything. Our canned goods shelves are bare.” said Director Mary Ann Guillory.
Guillory says this summer was a tough one at the Food Bank. “With school starting, many families used their finances to get their children ready for school. .. school supplies and uniforms. This affected ‘our families’ who depend on us to supply their food needs.”
With the cuts in food stamps program many families were reduced with their food stamps monthly benefits...“So they depend on us, for what’s lacking.” said Guillory.
Guillory looked over her Food Bank notes and charts, saying, “Last year in Aug. of 2013 we supported 146 households. This year Aug. 2014, our households are at 191.
“Last year, Aug. 2013, we fed and supplied 279 people; this year -Aug. 2014, we are at 383 individuals.”
Guillory says the food bank needs canned goods, toiletries (paper wear, toilet paper, toothpaste, soaps, deodorants, etc.), all non-perishables, and monetary donations are accepted.
She added, “The community is so gracious, and kind to us, especially when there is a definite need. We are asking now to help us.”
The Food Bank is also in need of volunteers, “I have lost 2 volunteers for medical and personal reasons. I do need volunteers.”
Those wishing to volunteer, or donate canned goods, non perishables, or reaching in their “pocket books”, can do so at the Food Bank located inside Northwest Community Center, Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, from 9 a.m. until noon.
One can call for information, and details, Mary Ann Guillory at 457-7541 or 305-0876.
