JFK campaign chairman
METAIRIE – Services for attorney Clarence Martin will be in Lake Providence. He died Aug. 8 at age 83 in Alexandria, Va.
He practiced with Mollere, Zacaria and Gracianette and chaired John F. Kennedy’s 1960 presidential campaign in Louisiana. He received a presidential appointment from President Kennedy and served as Director of Congressional Liaison for the US AID program. Later he was Executive Director of the Association for the Advancement of Psychology.
Survivors include his wife Virginia and two children.
Trumpeter
NEW ORLEANS – Services will be Aug. 30 for trumpeter Warren “Porgy” Jones. He died Aug. 21 st age 74.
While a teenager, he played with such local musicians as Johnny Adams, Lee Dorsey Eddie Bo, Ernie K-Doe and Tommy Ridgley.
After attending Southern University, he played with Jerry Butler, Art Blakey, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight, Curtis Mayfield, Otis Redding, Smokey Robinson and the Red Sanders Band.
Survivors include his wife Floragene.

BATON ROUGE – Services for retired Bell South executive and former LSU adjunct professor William Michelet will be Aug. 28. He died Aug. 25 at age 82.
He was with Bell South Corporate and External Affairs for 27 years. After retiring, he worked as an adjunct professor at the LSU Manship School of Communication, LSU acting director of Student Media and medial liaison for the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge. He was founder of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana.
Survivors include his wife Barbara and two sons.

Long-time School Board member
BRUSLY – Services for long-time School Board member Paul Pattan, Sr. will be Aug. 28. He died Aug. 23 at age 88.
He was a former teacher and coach and served on the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board from 1982-2010. He was retired from Union Pacific Railroad.
Survivors include his wife Thelma and a son.
Arrangements are by Hall Davis and Son.
