Energy exec, Tulane gridder
MINDEN – Private services are pending for former Tulane football player and energy company executive Charles “Bob” Waldron. He died Sept. 13 at age 64.
After Tulane, he was an NFL draft pick by the Detroit Lions. He had a long career in finance with Mobil Oil. At the time of his death he was CFO for Colorado-based green energy startup Sundrop Fuels.
Survivors include his wife Nancy and three children.
Noted strawberry farmer
PONCHATOULA – Services for Hall of Fame strawberry farmer Hollis Poche will be Sept. 22. He died Sept. 18 at age 91.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II’s Pacific theater and a holder of the Bronze Star. He was a former Strawberry King and inducted into the Strawberry Row of Fame in 2013.
Survivors include a son and seven daughters.
Military pathologist
SHREVEPORT – Services for Dr. Kevin Clearkin, Col. USAF Retired, were Sept. 20. He died Sept. 18 at age 92.
He was Chief of Pathology at Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Washington, DC when he retired. Subsequently he became medical director of the Military Entrance Processing Station in Shreveport.
Survivors include his wife Flora and two daughters.
