The Eunice News is giving away a new Chevrolet Deluxe 4-Door Sedan in its subscription contest. It is fully equipped and sells for $2,265.
The Quarterback Club has taken steps toward providing new seats and a scoreboard at Eunice High’s Bobcat Field. Pat Olinde is chairman of the committee that will explore the options.
The City Council is buying land near the Charles Drew Colored School as the site for a new park for Negroes. It is on the northeast corner of the school property.
A consulting firm has presented a plan to the city for a $1.6 million improvement to Eunice’s outmoded sewerage collection and treatment system.
Bobby Pedigo, 15, has come out of the coma he’s been in for 16 days, since being thrown from an airplane ride at the Southwest Louisiana Fair. His uncle was killed in the accident.
About 370 boys and girls received the sacrament of confirmation from Msgr. Alphonse Martel, pastor of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Southern Bell Telephone manager I.A. Gashia said there are 2,763 telephones now in service in Eunice.
Jeanette Stark of Eunice is a member of the varsity debate team at Southwestern Louisiana Institute.
