Eunice High math instructor parish Teacher of the Year

Becky Miller Sonnier, Eunice High’s Teacher of the Year for 2014, has also been selected St. Landry Parish Teacher of the Year.
Sonnier recently discovered she won the title and honor of Parish Teacher of the Year.
She competed among other Teachers of the Year in the parish. She had to complete a series of requirements for the parish level. She added, “I had to complete an application which included my resume along with several written essays, test results, a video lesson with detailed lesson plan, and three letters of recommendation.
“I then was interviewed by a panel at the school board office in Opelousas. All of this took place Dec. 17.
“The next step is to submit all of the above to the Regional Level competition and sit for another interview with them. I am not sure when this will take place, but I am guessing later this month.”
Sonnier is a graduate of Eunice High and a 22-year math teacher there.
