Inmates moved to parish jail after fight

One allegedly jumped, injured the other

Two inmates were transferred from the Eunice City Jail to the St. Landry Parish Jail on Saturday after a fight between them.
Police Chief Randy Fontenot said Ja’Marcous Trayvonn Walker, 20, of Rayne was charged with aggravated battery after allegeding jumping another inmate, who was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Both were being held on state charges in the city jail and were moved after the fight.
Walker’s original charges included possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, violation of the CDS law, possession of marijuana 3rd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearm in presence of CDS and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Walker was arrested on Dec. 11 after being recognized by a passing detective as he walked through a neighborhood and was stopped on suspicion of outstanding warrants.
Walker’s felony arrest record dates to 2011.
The other inmate was not charged in relation to the fight.
