Doris Reese Stagg is Rotary's Citizen of the Year

Eunice Rotary Club Citizen of the Year Committee chairman John Pucheu presents 2014 award Wednesday to Doris Reese Stagg. In right background is Charles F. Seale, whose nomination letter was the basis of the club’s selection of Mrs. Stagg.

Doris Reese Stagg, who will celebrate her 100th birthday on Feb. 4, was named the Eunice Rotary Club's Citizen of the Year at a luncheon Wednesday.
Her involvement in the city’s civic affairs reaches to the days she operated a 5&10 store at the corner of North Walnut & 2nd streets.
She is a founding member of the Eunice Players’ Theater and was instrumental in formation of the now-Acadian Medical Center Pink Ladies, of which she was a member for almost 50 years.
Her selection in part was based on the club’s sentiment that Mrs. Stagg has been responsible for the kinds of things that make Eunice a city people want to live in.
