Armed robbery suspect search continues

Man with pistol struck Family Dollar on Laurel Ave.

Eunice police continue their search for the man who held up Family Dollar store Thursday morning, escaping with an undetermined amount of money.
The suspect is describe as black with chin-length dredlocks. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a grey hoodie.
According to reports, he entered the store at 12th & Laurel about 8:30. Waving a black handgun, he demanded money and an employee handed over a money bag.
The suspect, described as of medium build with a deep voice, fled around the corner of the store, where the money bag was found, emptied of its contents.
What happened next is under investigation. One witness said he saw a man get into a white car, possibly a Pontiac, which went west on Vine behind the store and turned north on 12th.
There were also indications the suspect could have remained on foot.
Shortly after the robbery, a vehicle fitting the general description of the alleged get-away car was stopped at the nearby Winn-Dixie lot, but was determined not to be the vehicle of interest.
