Train strikes, kills Basile bicyclist

A man bicyclist trying to cross the tracks was struck and killed by a train in Basile on Tuesday morning
The incident happened shortly after 9 a.m., according to Police Chief Allen Ivory.
He said Shelton August, Jr., 61, of Basile, was riding his bicycle south on Ryan Street when he attempted to cross the Union Pacific railroad tracks near the police station and was hit by the train.
