Police drug deal ignited shooting

Three men each face four attempted first degree murder charges in a Wednesday shooting that left a man wounded as a result of a drug deal gone bad, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Deontrey Dequinton Moten, 24, was in the process of being booked at the Eunice Police Department Friday when he started talking to police.
“He is claiming he was the driver of the vehicle and there were two other shooters,” Fontenot said.
As a result of that interview, two other men were arrested.
Moten, 224 Beliman Lane, Grand Coteau, is accused of shooting Kiara Rideau at about 1 a.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 400 block of Jelks Street.
Also arrested are Paul Johntay Powell, 21, 305 Oak Blvd., Grand Coteau and David Dwayne Little, 25, 112 Chachere Road, Church Point.
A woman and two children, ages 3 and 4, were in the residence at the time of the shooting, police report.
Rideau was wounded in the lower abdomen and once in each foot, Fontenot said.
The victim was taken to Acadian Medical Center and flown to a Lafayette hospital for treatment, he said.
Fontenot said at least 12 shots were fired into the Eunice residence.
Rideau was wounded while in a bedroom, he said.
Moten is on probation from a conviction of possession of cocaine charge in 2014, police said.
Fontenot said investigators believe two weapons, a handgun and rifle, were used in the shooting.
A woman at the residence was on the phone with a police dispatcher when the shots were fired.
