Sheriff: Mother and newborn tested postive for meth

A 26-year-old Scott woman, Katie Elizabeth Chriceol, is wanted for the second-degree murder of her newborn daughter, a new release from the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office stated.
The mother and dead infant were tested positive for high levels of methamphetamine, the news release stated.
Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators were contacted on March 29 by a Lafayette Hospital regarding the death of a newborn, according to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon
Investigators learned the mother had gone into labor and had given birth at a residence in Acadia Parish.
An ambulance was dispatched to the residence and upon arrival the infant went into cardiac arrest. The female infant was transported to a Lafayette Hospital where she later died.
On May 14, Assistant District Attorney Jack Nickel presented the case before a grand jury, which came back with a true bill and indicted the mother, Katie Elizabeth Chriceol, for the second-degree murder of Tailor Elizabeth Edmond.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant of arrest for Katie Elizabeth Chriceol whose last known address was the 100 block of Coyote Run, Scott.
