Lady Jays down Eunice, 6-1
St. Edmund opened with a 3-0 lead to push the Lady Jays to a 6-1 win over Eunice High in summer league play on Tuesday at Lady Bobcat Field.
Maggie Levierre was hit by a pitch to open the game and quickly scored on a RBI by Sydney Thibodeaux.
Olivia McDaniel followed with a single and Kasey LaFleur hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Thibodeaux.
Kelli Richard’s hit scored McDaniel to give the Lady Jays a three-run advantage.
The Lady Cats responded with a run in the bottom of the inning when Amber Arvie reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a passed ball.
St. Edmund added a run in the top of the third when Thibodeaux singled up the middle and crossed home plate when LaFleur reached on an error.
The Lady Jays added two insurance runs in the top of the fourth as Larriviere walked, Thibodeaux singled and both scored on a double by McDaniel.
The Blue Jays finished with nine hits, sparked by Thibodeaux (3-for-3 with three runs scored) and McDaniel (3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored).
Richard went 2-for-2 with a RBI, while LaFleur went 1-1 with a sacrifice and two RBI.
Levierre and LaFleur limited Eunice to one hit by Mia Lejeune, while combining for four strikeouts and three walks in the win.
The summer league concludes next week with games in Crowley and Scott.
On Monday in Crowley, Eunice takes on Crowley at 5 p.m.
St. Edmund will face Acadiana High at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday in Scott, the Lady Cats will take on Crowley at 6 p.m. before facing Carencro at 7 p.m.
