Eunice man charged in stabbing
Police believe an alcohol-fueled argument resulted in the stabbing of a 25-year-old woman by her boyfriend around 11 p.m. Monday at an apartment complex on Crestview Loop.
Cody Jerard White,32, of the 100 block of Gaspard Street, Eunice, was arrested for aggravated second-degree battery.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said the victim and suspect became engaged in a verbal altercation that turned physical.
“The suspect starting hitting the victim in the face and head and stomach,” he said.
The woman was able to get a knife in the kitchen area, but the suspect apparently managed to take the knife away from her and starting using it on her, he said.
“She was injured in the arms and hand and treated the hospital,” he said
Fontenot said two knves were believed to have been used in the attack.
The woman fled the apartment and sought help at another apartment, but White followed her, he said.
White left the scene and was taken in custody on Lewis Street, he said.
