LSN Editorial: Vitter or Edwards?
LSN Editorial: Vitter or Edwards?
That is the question: a question that has far-reaching consequences for every man, woman and child in Louisiana.
Despite the importance of electing a governor, only an estimated 38.5 percent of the voters took the time to vote. This means that almost two out of three voters didn’t care enough about who is governor to go to the polls and vote. What a sad situation.
After a hard-fought and bitter primary with both sides running attack ads in the media, there is much anger among the candidates who didn’t make the run-off and their supporters.
This is understandable and a part of human nature, but anger is not the basis upon which intelligent decisions should be made.
There is an old saying that ANGER is one letter away from DANGER.
To vote for or against a candidate for governor based on anger does not bode well for the state nor is it in the best interest of the people.
We suggest that the focus should be on the issues and not on a popularity contest.
Informed voters will learn all they can about each candidate’s political philosophy, intelligence, leadership, track record and, most of all, who can resolve the myriad problems facing the state.
Keep an open mind until you get all the facts and then vote on the issues and who in your judgment can do the best job in resolving them.
