On Nov. 17, Central Middle School hosted an informative session for all students to remind them of the dangers and consequences of inappropriate behavior on social media.
Guest speakers were Judge Terry Hoychick, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot, and Assistant District Attorney Paul Brown.
Central Middle fifth and sixth-graders were informed by the group of speakers of how important it is to make good choices. Principal Ranolviaun Landry said, “The session also included information relative to potential gang affiliation and how such affiliation can lead to poor choices.
“The speakers emphasized how choices young people make today can have lasting effects on their lives. Each gave their own perspective ranging from how the law works, investigative measures and methods, and penalties for breaking laws, including cyber laws.”
Landry added, “I believe this is the beginning of a better community networking system where we are all focused on awareness in helping our young people make positive choices. Central Middle School plans a follow-up session in the spring that will include feedback from our students,” noted Landry.
