46% of fatal wrecks in St. Landry Parish involve alcohol

46% of fatal wrecks in St. Landry Parish involve alcohol
Forty-six percent of the 13 fatal traffic wrecks in St. Landry Parish this year have been alcohol-related, according to the Louisiana Traffic Records Data Report, which is compiled annually by the LSU Highway Safety Research Group.
The information is as of Nov. 16.
There have been 631 traffic crashes involving injuries in St. Landry Parish in 2015. Of those crashes, 55 involved alcohol.
There were 1,105 crashes that resulted in injuries and of those 92 were alcohol-related.
The report tallied 1,414 wrecks that resulted in property damage alone and of those 106 involved alcohol.
No fatal wrecks were reported in Eunice.
Of the 90 wrecks in Eunice involving injuries, three of those were alcohol-related.
There have been 158 people injured in traffic crashes in Eunice
There were 229 crashes in Eunice as Nov. 16 that involved only property damage. Of those crashes, 15 involved alcohol.
Eleven of St. Landry Parish’s fatal traffic wrecks occurred in rural areas. Six of those wrecks involved alcohol.
Fatal wrecks this year have occurred in Krotz Springs and Sunset.
Rural St. Landry Parish counted for 299 of the injury crashes, followed by 214 in Opelousas and 90 in Eunice.
In Acadia Parish, there have been 13 fatal wrecks of which three involved alcohol.
There were 10 fatal wrecks in rural Acadia Parish.
One fatal wreck occurred in Estherwood and two in Rayne.
In Evangeline Parish, seven fatal wrecks have occurred this year and they have all been in rural areas. Of the fatal wrecks, three have involved alcohol.
