Kinder sweeps St. Edmund

KINDER – A 15-7 second quarter run by the Lady Jackets proved to be the difference Tuesday night as Kinder grabbed a 61-47 win over St. Edmund.
The Yellow Jackets (7-9) battled to a 14-12 lead over the Lady Jays (4-11) to begin the game.
Elissa David scored five points to lead St. Edmund, while Kinder’s Kate Trahan also pushed in five points.
Chole Dickens scored seven points and Karson Cormier added six points in the second period as the Lady Jackets pushed ahead 29-19 at intermission.
The Lady Jays kept the game even in the third period with a 18-17 clash, sparked by 10 points from Gabby Fontenot to close the gap to 47-36.
The two teams kept fighting in the final period as Kinder outscored the Lady Jays 14-11 to seal the win.
Abby Miller led St. Edmund with seven points in the period to finish with 12 points.
Miller also had seven rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Destiny Seemion scored seven points in the period for the Lady Jackets to close the game with 11 points.
Cormier also scored 11 points for Kinder, while Dickens led all scorers with 16 points.
Fontenot had 10 points, four reounds and a steal for the the Lady Jays.
Sydney Thibodeaux led St. Edmund with 14 rebounds, two forced turnovers and scored six points.
David finished with five points and four rebounds.
Allison LaFleur had five points, three assists and two rebounds.
Victoria McGee added four points and two rebounds.
Maggie Larriviere finished with two points, four rebounds and a forced turnover.
Leger had three points, two rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal.
St. Edmund opens District 5-1A action at False River Academy Friday.

Kinder 101, St. Edmund boys 37
KINDER – The struggles continue for St. Edmund as the Kinder Yellow Jackets cruised to a 101-37 romp over the Blue Jays.
Kinder (7-3) soared to a 35-11 first quarter lead as the Yellow Jackets quickly took over the game.
Travon Williams scored 13 points and Bradley Ashworth added eight points for the Jackets.
Cullen Brown scored six points for the Jays in the first period.
The offensive explosion continued for Kinder as the Jackets added a 26-7 surge in the second period.
Ashworth scored nine points in the quarter, while John Ross Guillory led the Jays with three points.
Kinder took a 61-18 lead into the break and then sealed the win with a 25-5 run in the third quarter.
Williams scored eight points in the period to finish with 23 points.
Alex Dupre pushed in four points for the Jays in the quarter.
St. Edmund fought to finish strong as the Blue Jays scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, led by four points from Dylan Bieber and Austin Gradney, while Dupre added three points.
Kinder had five players in double figures including Williams.
Ashworth finished with 21 points, while Greg Mayfield chipped in 16 points.
Chris Khammany had 15 points and Paxton Johnson contributed 12 points for the Jackets.
St. Edmund opens District 5-1A action at False River Academy Friday in New Roads.
