May public prayer at St. Anthony’s
During the month of May a rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet will be prayed daily at 5:30 p.m. at the shrine of the Blessed Mother in front of Saint Anthony’s rectory.
The public is encouraged to participate.

Community Day at the Park on Saturday
Angelz on a Mission is looking for volunteers for a Community Day at the Park at 8 a.m. Saturday at Southeast Park.
Volunteers are need to help to mow grass, paint and plant flowers.

Cajun Cafe at LSUE meets Friday
The Cajun Cafe at LSUE will meet at 9 a.m. Friday in Room 117 Education Bldg.
Join a French conversation and stories, bring a friend.
The group will not meet on May 20, however it will  meet on May 27.

Annual postal carrier food drive Saturday
 Give and give.. to your postal letter carrier on Saturday. Your mail letter carrier will collect canned goods on this date. Mail customers will be receiving in the mail a post card reminder of the drive.
All canned goods donated will benefit the Eunice Food Bank.

EHS class of 2016- special brick offer
EHS Alumni Association is offering the senior class of 2016 a chance to purchase their brick at the high school’s Centennial Brick plaza, along with their lifetime membership into the Alumni Association for half price during the month of May.
For $50 between May 1 and June 1 any senior,  or person buying one for an EHS senior of 2016, will receive a discount.

Community Garden open hour Tuesdays
The Eunice Community Garden has scheduled open hours from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays to allow the community to learn about the opportunity to garden in a community setting.
“Jardin des Amis” is located at 2201 W. Ash St. and is behind the state Department of Motor Vehicles office.

Summer camp
Summer Cultural Camp for the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 11 to 15.
The camp is for ages 9 to 12. The registration fee, cash or check is $50.
The center is located at at 250 West Park Ave., Eunice.

Smart Drivers course
There will be a Smart Drivers Course offered from noon until 4 p.m.  today at the State Farm Office of Kendall Fontenot.
Refresh your defensive driving skills, review traffic laws and rules of the road using proven safety strategies as well as have the opportunity to perhaps receive a multi-year discount on your insurance. No test to pass.
Cost of the class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.
Class size is limited.

Make & Take craft at library set June 3
Make and take craft at the Eunice Public Library on June 3.
Activities are from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
 *Bring your own cap and choose from a variety of different stickers and gems to create your own unique design. (Caps will not be provided)
*Decorate a birdhouse made from a water or clean milk gallon jug. (All materials will be provided)
 
Free recreational fishing set June 11-12
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Free Recreational Fishing Days will be held June 11-12. Both Louisiana residents and non-residents will be allowed to fish without a license on any of the state’s public waters during that weekend.
Anglers are allowed to fish on all public bodies of waters without a license, but all fishing regulations still apply.
 
VFW bingo held  Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes
The Evangeline Parish adult education classes will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Basile police station.

Create Art at Art House - Saturdays
The Eunice Community Art House is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays for anyone wanting to come in and work with their own materials.
