2 indicted in Eunice slaying

A St. Landry Parish grand jury has indicted Phillip Lafleur, 22, and Candice Renee Vidrine, 21, in the shooting death of 22-year-old Akeem Adiddias Ceasar.
Ceasar’s body was found Feb. 1 in a wooded area north of East Magnolia Avenue. He had last been seen Dec. 24.
The grand jury indictments were reported May 24 to District Court, Judge James P. Doherty, according to a news release from District Attorney Earl Taylor.
Lafleur was indicted for second-degree murder and Vidrine for accessory after the fact to the second degree murder of Ceasar,
The indictment states the murder occurred “on or about January.”
An autopsy ruled his death a homicide and Fontenot said death was from a gunshot. DNA was used to identify the body as that of Ceasar.
Lafleur and Vidrine were arrested in San Angelo, Texas, and extradited back to Eunice.
The grand jury also reported two other indictments involving Opelousas deaths.
— Davien Bell, 18, of Opelousas, was indicted on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the March slaying of Kevin Roberts.
— D’Angilo Rubin, 19, of Opelousas, was indicted on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the March slaying of Kenric Castille.
