Genealogy meetings
Genealogy 101, a workshop/round table, is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Lafayette Public Library, downtown location, 301 W. Congress St., Lafayette.

Lafayette Genealogical Society’s monthly meeting is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. June 16 at the Lafayette South Regional Library, 6101 Johnston St.
The guest speaker is Henry Peterson Jr. who will talk about using Legacy genealogy software.

Make & Take craft at library set June 3
Make and take craft at the Eunice Public Library on June 3.
Activities are from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
*Bring your own cap and choose from a variety of different stickers and gems to create your own unique design. (Caps will not be provided)
*Decorate a birdhouse made from a water or clean milk gallon jug. (All materials will be provided)
St. Mathilda Rummage Sale set June 4
The St. Mathilda Ladies Altar Society will have a Rummage sale on Saturday, June 4 from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. inside the Bishop Ceaser Center, rain or shine.
There will be lots household items, furniture and more.

Women’s Day celebration set June 5
The Women’s Ministry of Greater True Light Baptist Church in Eunice invites the public for their annual Women’s Day celebration service on Sunday during the church’s morning service at 8:30 a.m.

Free recreational fishing set June 11-12
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Free Recreational Fishing Days will be held June 11-12. Both Louisiana residents and non-residents will be allowed to fish without a license on any of the state’s public waters during that weekend.
Anglers are allowed to fish on all public bodies of waters without a license, but all fishing regulations still apply.
LDWF accepts applications
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will accept applications through June 20 for waterfowl group hunts for up to 12 hunters per group at White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area

Community Garden open hour Tuesdays
The Eunice Community Garden has scheduled open hours from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays to allow the community to learn about the opportunity to garden in a community setting.
“Jardin des Amis” is located at 2201 W. Ash St. and is behind the state Department of Motor Vehicles office.

Saturday program at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.

Summer camp at Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Summer Cultural Camp for the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 11 to 15.
The camp is for ages 9 to 12. The registration fee, cash or check is $50.
The center is located at at 250 West Park Ave., Eunice.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.
Evangeline Parish adult education classes
The Evangeline Parish adult education classes will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Basile police station.

Create Art at Art House - Saturdays
The Eunice Community Art House is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays for anyone wanting to come in and work with their own materials.
The event is free and open to the public.

Knights of Columbus sells white crosses
The Eunice Knights of Columbus Council 1745 is currently selling white crosses to be placed in yards.
The crosses are available from Bill Parrie at 251 N. 6th St., or at Bertrand’s Printing, or in front of St. Anthony Church after each morning Mass at 7 a.m., 9 a.m., and 11 a.m.
A $5 donation is requested.
