Deputy asessor, jamboree director

OPELOUSAS – Services for long-time deputy assessor Joseph Edmond were Sept. 19. He died Sept. 17.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. After retiring from Entex he was a St. Landry Parish deputy assessor for 25 years until his death. He was chairman of the John Bradley Memorial Kiwanis Football Jamboree for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife Mildred and three children.

I-49 engineer/developer

ATHENS – Services for long-time civil engineer Billy Pate will be Sept. 30. He died Sept. 19 at age 78.

He worked for DOTD for more than 30 years and was instrumental in the development of Interstate 49. He also was an engineer for the City of Shreveport.

Survivors include three children.

Retired AF colonel, beer exec

SHREVEPORT – Services were Sept. 26 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. for retired Air Force Lt. Col. and beer executive Joseph Silagy. He died Sept. 21 at age 84.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, former assistant air attache in Vienna, Austria and Pentagon liaison to other nations’ air forces. After retirement he was president and CEO of Shreveport Budweiser, chairman of the board of the Beer Industry League of Louisiana and board member of several financial institutions.

Survivors include his wife Lori and  two sons.
