Pioneering physician
NEW ORLEANS – Services for Dr. Martha Taylor, one of the first female physicians in the South, will be Friday. She died Oct. 26 at age 88.
Her specialty was pediatrics. She began practice as the Harrison County, Miss. Health Officer, supervising clinics and and vaccination programs, seeing patients and providing prenatal care.
Survivors include three children.
Arrangements are by Reimann, Gulfport.
Grocer
LAFAYETTE – Services for grocer Patrick Palombo will be Thursday. He died Oct. 28 at age 62.
He had been owner and operator of Adrien’s Supermarket since 1999.
Survivors include his wife Merella, three children and two step-children.
Arrangements are by Fountain.
Civil engineer
SHREVEPORT – Services for civil engineer Ben Atchley, Jr., will be Friday. He died at age 67.
He was president of Atchley & Atchley and designed many roads, drainage systems, utility lines, parking lots and subdivisions in the Shreveport-Bossier City area.
Survivors include his wife Patricia and a son.
Arrangements are by Osborn.
Pharmacist
NEW ORLEANS – Services for long-time pharmacist Dr. James “Boss” Hunnicutt, Sr. will be Thursday. He died Oct. 28 at age 76.
He was owner of the Family Drug Center for 28 years before selling it to Eckerd’s. He was twice president of the Louisiana Pharmacy Association.
Survivors include his wife Frances and four children.
Arrangements are by H.C. Alexander.
