Noted chiropractor
PINEVILLE – Services for long-time chiropractor Dr. Fred E. Bates will be Wednesday. He died Sept. 2 at age 91.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the battles of Okinawa, Guam and Leyte during World War II, awarded decorations for heroism for his actions. He began his practice in Mississippi, then located in Pineville in the early 1950s. He was a leader in the campaign for chiropractic licensing in the state and served as president of the Louisiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners and chairman of the board of the Louisiana Chiropractic Assn.
Survivors include two children.
Arrangements are by Griffin.
 
Retired principal
LAFAYETTE – Services for retired teacher and principal Yvonne Jumonville will be Thursday. She died Sept. 30 at age 82.
She was a math teacher at Fatima High for 14 years, principal there for four years and principal of St. Thomas More High School for seven years.
Survivors include her husband Mark, four sons and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Martin & Castille.
 
Painting contractor
KEITHVILLE – Services for paint and dry wall contractor Frank Leon, Jr. will be Wednesday. He died Sept. 29 at age 72.
He was owner and operator of his own firm more more than 45 years, his work most recognized through the restoration of the steeple for the First United Methodist Church at the head of Texas Avenue in downtown Shreveport.
Survivors include his wife Sherrie and two daughters
Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.
