Blue Jays place 18 on 5-1A All-District list

The St. Edmund Blue Jays finished second in District 5-1A at 4-1 with their sole loss coming against defending champion Pointe Coupee Central.
With an 8-4 overall finish and advancing to the Division IV quarterfinals, the Blue Jays placed 18 players on the 5-1A All-District list.
Senior Phillip Zaunbrecher and junior Zach LaFleur earned first-team honors on both sides of the ball, while quarterback Drew Brown was named First-Team Athlete.
Brown was also named as va Class 1-A All-State Honorable Mention selection.
Brown gained 1,344 yards rushing on 225 carries with 22 touchdowns.
The junior signal caller also competed 145-of-252 passes for 1,830 yards with 13 interceptions and 26 touchdowns.
Zaunbrecher was one of the impressive Blue Jay offensive linemen who help lead the way for 5,023 yards of total offense this season.
Zach LaFleur finished the season with 961 yards rushing on 139 attempts with eight touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 180 yards and a score.
On the defensive side of the ball, Zaunbrecher had 57 tackles and 31 assists, while LaFleur had 59 tackles. 53 assists and three interceptions.
Hank Miller earned First Team defensive honors as he led the Blue Jays with 134 tackles and 58 assists on the season.
Second Team offensive honors went to running back Ross LaFleur, receiver Stone LeJeune, offensive linemen Kramer Rozas and Christian Walker.
Rozas and Walker were also named to the Second Team defensive team along with Austin Sittig and Alex Hunt.
The Honorable Mention list included Chase Dupre, Philippe Aguillard, Jacob Thibodeaux, Gibson LaFleur, Tyler Thibodeaux. Dray Veillon, Aaron Sittig and Landen Lyons.
