Prudhomme finishes second at 4-A meet

BATON ROUGE – Eunice High senior Cole Prudhomme closed his high school athletic career on the podium at the LHSAA Class 4-A state track meet.
Prudhomme finished second in the shot put with a throw of 51-6, just behind Westgate’s Taylor Fondal’s 52-0.
“It wasn’t my best throw,” Prudhomme said. “The guy that beat me, I had beat in regionals.
His best shot throw of the year was 53-11 at Church Point, while his best discus toss was 140-6, which would have put him in second at the state meet.
“After four years, it felt great to get to state and place,” Prudhomme said.
Prudomme is heading to Louisiana-Lafayette to play football, but will miss track.
“It is really challenging and I wanted to do track in college but they told me it would be better to concentrate on football and I understand.
EHS finished sixth in the girls 4x400 relay as Jyrieh Johnson, Kiarra White, Saja Chevis ad Clea Fransaw combined for a time of 4:16.77.
At the Class 1-A meet, tition, St. Edmund competed in four events.
Ross LaFleur finished fifth in the javelin with a toss of 48-9.
Heather Bieber finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 32-2.
Abby Brown finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 7-0.
Cullen Brown finished seventh in the 300 hurdles with a time of 44.0.
