Gymnasts excel at state

BATON ROUGE – If what they accomplished at the state meet is any indication, their future in gymnastics could be impressive.
Ali Willis, Vivian Andrus and Briley Darbonne from Rice City Gymnastics recently competed at the Louisiana LRG State Gymnastics Meet in Baton Rouge.
The trio helped capture Level 1 runner up finish and grabbed the Level 2 state championship.
Willis, a second grader at Iota Elementary, competed in the Level 1, eight-year-old division and won fourth place (37.075) in state all-around title.
The daughter of Jeff and Lindsey Willis, Ali finished fourth in beam (9.55), fourth in vault (9.325), sixth place in uneven bars (9.4) and eighth place in the floor exercise (8.8).
Andrus, a second grader at Glendale Elementary, competed in Level 2, eight-year-old division.
The daughter of Kyle and Crystal Andrus, Vivian captured the all-around state championship with a 37.025.
Andrus finished fifth in beam (9.125) as well as second in both vault (9.300) and uneven bars (9.725). She sealed the all-around title with a first-place finish in the floor exercise (8.875).
Darbonne, a third grader at Richard Elementary, competed in Level 1, nine-year-old division.
The daughter of Bryan and Denise Darbonne, Briley won second place for the state all around competition (37.275).
Darbonne finished second in beam (9.45), fourth in vault (9.30), fifth in uneven bars (9.35) and second place in the floor exercise (9.175).
