A new group of 11 young whooping cranes is scheduled to arrive in Vermilion Parish next month in an ongoing project to re-establish the endangered birds in the south Louisiana marshes where they once thrived.

Reggie, confidant of presidents and governors, dies

Former Crowley city judge and longtime Edwin Edwards confidant Edmund M. Reggie, 87, died Tuesday, three days before the 50th anniversary of President John Kennedy, who he introduced to Louisiana. Reggie's daughter later married JFK's younger brother Edward.
Vermilion student suspended for Facebook talk about principal

A Vermilion Parish high school student got two days suspension for a Facebook posting concerning his principal last week. It may be the first time a Vermilion Parish student gets suspended for a Facebook posting about an administrator.
