"God's Not Dead"

I, along with three of my friends, had a chance to see one of the latest movie releases -- “God’s Not Dead” --this past weekend. And let me just say what a great and inspiring movie it was!
I was enlightened and excited not to have to sit through and view sex, cursing, drugs, etc. that are so popular in making a popular movie these days.
Some may say, “I don’t care to see this movie,” and that’s okay. It’s your decision.
However, in my opinion, “God’s Not Dead” is a must-see for your entire family.
You will leave the theater with either a heavy heart and a thirst for a closer relationship with God or with a more enlightened relationship with Christ.
The film, which I will not share a whole lot about so that you can see it without my spoiling it, involves different characters who are in their own way of “searching” for a true and meaningful life, whether or not the Christian way.
The main character/actor is a college freshman and Christian Josh Wheaton who finds his faith challenged on his first day of philosophy class by an argumentative and atheist professor Radisson.
Radisson begins the class by informing students that they will need to disavow in writing the existence of God on that first day, or face a failing grade.
As other students in the class begin scribbling the words “God Is Dead,” on pieces of paper as instructed, Josh finds himself having to choose between his faith and his future. He must find a way to defend his position that God’s Not Dead and offers his professor a series of debates in front of his class.
And the story line continues...with other characters in the movie... one a woman named Ayisha, must hide her Chrisitianity from her devout Muslim family and father. Another, Mina must deal with her mother who suffers from dementia, and her rich brother Mark, an executive who refuses to see their mother. Mina is also in a relationship with Radisson, which is also a struggle as Mina is a devout Christian and Raddison an atheist, and he frequently belittles her in front of his colleagues.
Amy is a businesswoman diagnosed with cancer and Mark, her boyfriend, breaks up with her. He cares more about himself and his career.
Another character, Martin, is a foreign exchange student from China whose struggles are similar to Josh as his father does not want him screwing up his brother’s chances of a college scholarship.
The film includes some excerpts from the Newsboys, Christian pop rock band, and cameos by Willie and Korie Robertson of the television series Duck Dynasty.
I later found out that the film was shot in Baton Rouge from October to November of 2012.
I recommend this family oriented movie because I believe you will find it refreshing and enlightening...whatever your faith may be.
