STM students give key senate testimony on Article V resolution

The Louisiana Senate on Tuesday passed SCR52, a resolution calling for a Convention of States to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution in accordance with Article V of the Constitution.
The resolution now goes to the House for consideration, and if passed, Louisiana will become the eighth state calling for such convention to, in part, require fiscal restraint and limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government. Thirty-four states are required to file the same resolution in order to trigger an Article V convention.
Sen. Page Cortez, District 23, Lafayette, was a co-sponsor and presented the resolution to the Senate & Governmental Affairs committee, along with riveting testimony from two St. Thomas More High School civics students, Madeline Mahtook and Anna Grace Schoeffler. The young ladies told the committee,  “... the federal government has expanded its authority and its will upon the entire nation seeking to create one unified state as opposed to 50 sovereign states . . . we, the next generation, must seek to restore (the Constitution’s) original intent ... it’s time for the states to take a stand in order to save the future of our great nation ...”
The two students were responding to a “civics challenge” made to them when Sen. Cortez and Steve Gardes, a Lafayette CPA, made a presentation on Article V to their St. Thomas More High School civics class.

Very well put ladies.. I'm glad to see the next generation taking a stand for their rights!! Americans realize that the federal government will never control itself. The solution lies in using Article V of the US Constitution to call a Convention of States to peacefully and constitutionally bring the federal government back under control of the states. I’m tired of Congress not listening to WE THE PEOPLE…. 27 more states and they will have to hear us!!!!
