Crash kills Rayne man

Kenneth Brasseaux, 59, of Rayne was killed in a crash on La. 699 near La. 700 in Vermilion Parish that occurred about 7 p.m. Friday, according to a news release Louisiana State Police Troop I.
The initial investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Brasseaux was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on La. 699 and, for unknown reasons, crossed the centerline and ran off of the roadway, police said.
Brasseaux overcorrected and crossed both lanes of travel, struck a ditch, and overturned. Brasseaux was wearing a seat belt, but sustained fatal injuries, police said.
Brasseaux was pronounced dead on the scene by a Vermilion Parish Coroner’s Office’s representative.
It is unknown if impairment is a factor in this crash, but standard toxicology samples were taken from Brasseaux and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis, police said.
